Mathematician, philosopher and historian of mathematics, versatile intellectual, Federigo Enriques (1871-1946) was an outstanding figure in national and international culture. Removed from teaching in 1938 after racial laws, he was reinstated in his post only a few months before his death. CIRESS draws inspiration from such a multi-faceted intellectual, constantly committed both to research and popularization of scientific knowledge, indefatigable promoter of remarkable activities (such as the journal “Scientia”, which he founded in 1907).
